Training camps are opening around the league, and all signs are pointing towards the NFL returning to play as scheduled this fall. And based on what we know as of today, there are several regular season win total offerings that I believe are worth betting with high confidence.
For this list, I used the odds from our partners at DraftKings.
Now, without further adieu, here are five NFL regular season win totals to target with confidence in 2020.
Kansas City Chiefs – over 11.5 wins
There’s not much to say here really. The Chiefs have proven they are champions, they return most of their 2019 roster, and they have the best player in football. Based on what we know now, I see Kansas City winning 13 or 14 regular season games.
Go heavy on the over here.
Miami Dolphins – under 6.5 wins
Brian Flores did an amazing job with the Dolphins in 2019, and was fully deserving of some NFL Coach of the Year mention. Be that as it may, this team is still young, and in my opinion not quite ready to win games on a consistent basis. On top of that, there is a quarterback controversy brewing with highly-touted rookie Tua Tagovailoa recovering nicely from the hip injury he suffered during his final season at Alabama. As we all know, QB controversies that spill into the regular season rarely result in success in the win/loss column.
For me, the best case scenario for Miami in 2020 is six wins. Bet the under.
New York Jets – under 6.5 wins
GM Joe Douglas did an outstanding job landing a massive haul for All-Pro safety Jamal Adams. That move won’t pay off for at least two years, though.
Based on the roster they have now, I unfortunately don’t see the Gang Green winning more than three or four games in 2020.
Sidenote: I also believe Adam Gave will be the first NFL head coach to get fired in 2020, and you can likely get pretty good odds on this prop bet offering before the season kicks off.
Seattle Seahawks – over 9.5 wins
As we all know, the Seahawks recently added one of the premier young safeties to their secondary in Jamal Adams. I liked them to go over 9.5 wins before that happened.
Russell Wilson is the type of quarterback who can single-handedly will his team to victory, and this team is led by one of the premier coaches of this millennium in Pete Carroll. Let’s not forget, Seattle could also still very well re-sign Pro Bowl edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney.
All said, barring injury I have the Seahawks with a floor of 10 wins in 2020. Bet the over with confidence on this one.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers – over 9.5 wins
Yes, I am jumping on the Tom Brady-Tampa Bay bandwagon….sort of. While I don’t see the Bucs winning Super Bowl 55, I do see them winning 11 or 12 regular season games based on how their schedule looks on paper as of today. With that being said, taking them to go over 9.5 wins is a no-brainer.
