The Tennessee Titans have had four players test positive for COVID-19 following their win over the Minnesota Vikings. Tennessee also had five additional club personnel members test positive as well.
The four players that tested positive will be placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list. As a result, the Titans were forced to close down their facility and shut down team activities until Saturday.
According to ESPN’s Dan Graziano, nobody from the Minnesota Vikings organization has tested positive after playing against the Titans on Sunday. As it stands, Minnesota should have no issues playing their game against the Houston Texans as scheduled this week.
Tennessee on the other hand is scheduled to face the Pittsburgh Steelers this week, but the NFL has announced that the game will be pushed back a day or two. This means that the Titans will likely play Pittsburgh on either Monday or Tuesday.
One fun fact about the way the NFL tests the teams is that they don’t test teams on gameday. This means a player can test negative on Saturday, but wake up on Sunday and possibly catch the virus on his way to the stadium and still play the game without knowing knowing he has contracted the virus.
Any player who tests positive can return after 10 days as long as they remain asymptomatic. If a player has two negative tests within a five day window, he can return after just five days.
Teams are also able to find out who players have been around as well by using tracking devices that are worn by the players and members of the organization while at the facility.
As of now the Titans will get ready for their game against the Steelers by preparing the game plan over Zoom calls.
Both the Titans and Steelers are looking to remain undefeated after getting off to 3-0 starts to the season.
