The Seattle Seahawks have given head coach Pete Carroll a multi-year contract extension, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Carroll is now expected to be one of the highest paid coaches in the NFL, as he should be. According to The Seattle Times, Carroll’s current contract would’ve carried him through the 2021 season for about $11 million per year.
The deal is expected to keep Carroll on Seattle through the 2025 season. That would make him 74-years old at the end of the contract. Carroll is currently the oldest head coach in the NFL, but acts like the youngest with his excitement and enthusiasm.
The 69-year old coach mentioned in Sunday’s press conference that this extension had been in the works for a very long time.
Carroll is coaching in his 11th season with Seattle and has had nothing but success come his way. Not only is Carroll the winningest coach in Seahawks history, but has coached his team the playoffs eight times with four division titles. Under Carroll, Seattle has appeared in back-to-back Super Bowls after beating the Denver Broncos and falling just short to the New England Patriots.
Carroll currently has his team tied for the best record in the NFC, as well as the leading MVP candidate in Russell Wilson. If Carroll can get his defense playing at a high level, we might be see another Super Bowl appearance from the Seahawks this coming February.
