A new era is fully realized in college football and probably basketball as well. With essentially no transfer limits, schools and their collectives with deep pockets will build hard-to-beat goliaths like we just witnessed with Ohio State.
With many new parts, including an offensive coordinator in Chip Kelly (lured away from a head coaching position at UCLA), Ohio State took some time to get its footing, but by the National Championship game, it was firing on all cylinders.
Expect more of these super teams in future seasons. Programs with large alumni populations and money to lean into will make this a reality, especially as players can move easily from program to program. Bidding for players will be an off-season competition.
Kinda makes you wonder how the SEC dominated in the years prior….
