Where will Tom Brady play in 2020? That’s the million dollar question this offseason.
The NFL rumor mill has churned out several possible destinations for the six-time Super Bowl champion. Teams like the Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Chargers, Miami Dolphins, and Tennessee Titans have been cited as potential suitors for Brady. However, it is still unclear if the future Hall of Famer is willing to leave the team he built such an iconic legacy with.
If Brady were to depart from New England, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport has spotted a potential replacement for the Patriots.
“If the Patriots lose Tom Brady, one of their backup plans may end up being Andy Dalton,” Rapoport said on NFL Network
Smart money tells us that the Cincinnati Bengals will no longer have Andy Dalton under center after nine seasons with zero playoff wins. With the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming draft, Joe Burrow will become Dalton’s replacement, barring a momentous change of plans, and Dalton will soon be out of a job in Cincy.
“Keep an eye on Andy Dalton. The former franchise quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals,” said Rapoport. “One thing that Duke Tobin, top executive for the Bengals actually told me on the RapSheet and Friends Podcast in Mobile [is] they’re not going to send Dalton anywhere he doesn’t want to go. They are going to work with him on a potential trade.”
The Bengals appeared to have moved on from the winningest quarterback in franchise history during their bye week last season.
First year head coach Zac Taylor benched Dalton for rookie Ryan Finley following a 24-10 loss to the Rams. Last season, Dalton threw for 16 touchdowns and recorded a QBR of 37, both career lows for the three-time Pro Bowler.
Rapoport suggested some of the other teams to consider for Dalton’s 2020 landing spot include the Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts, and the Patriots (if Brady was to move toward greener pastures).
