This past week, we have been introduced to a new normal.
Without sports and socializing, reality has reared its ugly head. Sadly, this is how it must be. We must protect those who cannot protect themselves from COVID-19.
Hope is not lost.
In a time of self-isolation, it is imperative that we band together. We humans have the unique ability to adapt to our environment and triumph despite overwhelming odds.
Like millions of Americans, the staff and cast of ESPN’s Around The Horn has adapted and will be working from home. Hopefully, it will bring back a bit of normalcy to all of our lives.
From host Tony Reali:
“We were already a socially distant show — we have five people in five different cities. We were already a socially awkward show. So this just allows people to get a peek at our home decor and feng shui.
It exponentially increases the chances I have a toddler walking through my shot, which is a goal of mine.”
Who knows how long this will last. We have a responsibility to all of our production teams & crews & families & neighbors. We will be responsible. But I miss my friends and I want to talk sports so we’ll go around #AroundTheHome.”
– Tony Reali
Since Tuesday, the Around The Horn Twitter account has been posting episodes of Around the Home, where panelists join host Tony Reali remotely from the confines of their homes to discuss and debate.
On Wednesday, the panel dove into the Tom Brady trade and the oddest landing spot of an iconic player.
We here at Woodypaige.com will be posting updates for Around the Home episodes as they are posted.
No doubt these are uncertain times. However, it is vital we all take a break from the 24-hour news cycle and bring familiarity back into our homes.
Our friend Woody Paige puts it best:
“The life has gone out of our sports for a while, and sports have gone out of our lives. And those realities have affected Around The Horn and WoodyPaige.com. But we continue to try to give you information, opinions, humor and a bit of hope. We are thrilled to be starting Around The Home to provide you with a touch of The Horn. We are all working from our homes, as most of you are, and you can find our show on social media almost daily, and the segments also will appear here on WoodyPaige.com. Join us. You are our family, and I believe we are a small part of yours. Be safe, secure and strong. And be well.”
