In his sophomore professional season, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has taken the NFL by storm. And the Las Vegas sportsbooks have taken notice.
In their latest batch of Super Bowl odds, the Westgate Superbook has established the Ravens as one of the top-three contenders to take home the Lombardi Trophy as Super Bowl LIV champions this coming February.
Baltimore is currently sitting at 9/2 (4.5/1) odds, which trails only the New Orleans Saints (4/1), and the New England Patriots (14/5 or 2.8/1) (who the Ravens crushed in front of a national audience on Sunday Night Football in Week 9).
The reason for the Ravens’ ascension is fairly simple: Jackson has been the best player in the league in 2019.
The 2016 Heisman Trophy winner has silenced each and every one of his critics (you know, the ones who said he would never develop into a NFL-caliber passer) along the way, and is now the heavy favorite to take home the hardware as 2019 NFL MVP. His stat line looks like something out of a video game, and his ability to command Baltimore’s huddle is more reminiscent of Peyton Manning than a 22-year-old who is less than two years removed from college.
Granted, Jackson isn’t exactly playoff-tested. That will come. But, this much we know: the former Louisville star is well on his way to revolutionizing the quarterback position in the National Football League.
As mentioned, the Ravens trail only the Saints and the Patriots Westgate’s latest Super Bowl odds.
Here’s a rundown on the top-10 contenders at the time of publication:
- Houston Texans – 40/1
- Dallas Cowboys – 20/1
