Denver Broncos cornerback A.J. Bouye has been suspended six games after testing positive for PEDs. Bouye will not play the rest of this season and will miss the first two games of next season.
Bouye had his appeal Tuesday with the league, but lost, and will immediately being serving the six-games suspension.
According to reports, Bouye had received the same supplements from the same medical professionals that Houston Texans cornerback Bradley Roby and wide receiver Will Fuller got theirs from. Both Houston players also received six-game suspensions as well. Roby and Fuller also made statements saying that they were not aware that the supplements were against the league rules.
According to Mike Klis of 9News, the suspension will cost Bouye just over $3 million.
Bouye was traded to Denver in the offseason as the Broncos were moving on from Chris Harris Jr. The Denver cornerback is scheduled to make $13.5 million in 2021, but that money is not guaranteed. There’s a solid chance that the Broncos will release Bouye in the offseason or possibly bring him back for a reduced salary.
The 29-year old has only appeared in seven games with the Broncos this season. Bouye has six pass deflections, 23 total tackles, and zero interceptions. Bouye did battle a dislocated shoulder early this season, but since returning he has played at a high level.
Death by inches continues to hurt the Denver Broncos in 2020.
