Les Snead and Sean McVay have a great hand and just pushed all of their chips into the middle of the table.
They’re all in.
In the offseason the Rams made a big-time trade for Matthew Stafford to upgrade the quarterback position and now they have traded for future Hall of Fame pass rusher Von Miller.
Los Angeles sent second and third round picks in the 2022 NFL Draft to the Broncos for Miller. Denver will also pay $9 million of Miller’s contract with the Rams being strapped in cap space.
Snead has made it known that he’s not scared to wheel and deal his draft picks for big-time proven players. Snead sent multiple first round picks to the Jaguars for cornerback Jalen Ramsey and then two more first round picks for Stafford over the past couple of years.
Miller will be paired with pass rusher Leonard Flolyd on the edge along with three-time Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald.
Los Angeles owns a top-10 defense right now and lead the league in sacks as a team. The saying remains true, “you can never have enough pass rushers.”
In the same conference as Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, and now Kyler Murray, Snead knows that his defense is going to need all of the help that they can get. More pressure on the quarterback means the secondary will have a chance to force more turnovers.
The Rams are firing on all cylinders offensively with Stafford having connection with Cooper Kupp like he did with Calvin Johnson. Kupp already has 10 receiving touchdowns this season and is on pace to break Johnson’s receiving yards record for most in a season.
With the third best odds to win the Super Bowl, the Rams know they have something special and are taking advantage of their opportunity. It’s safe to say that there’s a good chance that they can play in the Super Bowl in their own stadium come February.
