Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marcus Peters chose an unusual form of celebration after making the game-sealing pass break-up in his team’s 24-17 road win over the Buffalo Bills in Week 14.
After batting down pass from Josh Allen (intended for John Brown) in the Ravens’ end zone, Peters hopped into the stands — which were mostly filled with members of the ‘Bills Mafia’ — and shot-gunned a fan’s beer.
Peters was subsequently flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct, which ultimately had no effect on the outcome of the game. The NFL then followed up by issuing him a $14,037 fine days later.
Bud Light, one of the league’s most prominent sponsors, caught wind of the fine and had a borderline legendary response. Take a look:
All celebrations (and trash talk) aside, Peters has experienced a noticeable resurgence since being traded from the Los Angeles Rams to the Ravens. The 26-year-old appears to have recaptured the passion and drive that led to him earning three Pro Bowl selections, two All-Pro nods, and the 2015 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award.
The Ravens look like the team to beat in the race for Super Bowl 54, and Peters will be counted on heavily throughout the postseason.
Moreover, if Baltimore does end up hoisting the Lombardi Trophy come February, the former University of Washington star will likely land a massive contract in free agency next offseason — and perhaps a marketing deal with Bud Light as well.
