The most talked about man in NFL free agency is back in the news again.
Rumors have now been swirling about Tom Brady potentially becoming a member of the San Francisco 49ers this offseason, thanks to NBC Sports Boston Patriots insider Tom Curran.
Curran predicted a dead split between the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans as potential landing spots for Brady, but noted the 49ers were “closing hard from the outside.”
Curran told Mad Dog Sports Radio that he predicts Tom Brady could return to his favorite childhood team and hometown of San Francisco this offseason. He believes that interest is mutual between the two parties (Brady and the 49ers front office).
“I think it’s from both [sides]. What’s interesting about that is the Patriots sent Jimmy Garappolo out there [San Francisco] for such short collateral. Could Belichick say, ‘hey why don’t you just sign this guy when he comes available for two years? I’ll take Jimmy back.’He’ll [Brady] get you the super bowl that you probably could have had this year if you had Brady.” said Curran.
To add fuel to the fire, a report came out on Wednesday that a conversation between Brady and Belichik, “didn’t go well”regarding the quarterback’s pending free agency. The Boston Herald’s Karen Guregian reported that a source revealed that the two discussed his contract.
“It was the first time Belichick had contacted Brady about his contract situation, and the Patriots’ plans going forward. The source wouldn’t shed further light on the discussion, or the particulars, other than noting it wasn’t all that fruitful,” wrote Guregian.
This week has been a whirlwind of speculation regarding Brady’s destination for 2020. The 42-year-old was spotted Monday at a North Carolina basketball game on Facetime with Titans head coach and ex-Patriots teammate Mike Vrabel.
On an instagram live video Wednesday, UFC’s president Dana White pitched the Las Vegas Raiders as the perfect destination for Brady. He told White he was “trying to be patient through this process.”
The six-time Super Bowl champion will be entering his 20th season in the NFL in 2020.
