Tom Brady was the biggest name to hit NFL free agency since Peyton Manning left the Indianapolis Colts to sign with the Denver Broncos in 2012. And after months of rumors and speculation, we finally know where the four-time Super Bowl MVP will be suiting up in 2020.
According to multiple reports, Brady is taking his talents to Tampa Bay and signing with the Buccanneers.
His contract is reportedly worth around $30 million per year.
The offensive firepower already in place in Tampa Bay, and the allure of working with Bruce Arians were likely the reason Brady was drawn to the Bucs.
In his 20 NFL seasons, Brady, who will be 43-years-old when the 2020 season kicks off in September, has put together what is arguably (few will argue against No. 12, though) the most impressive career (regardless of position) in league history.
The three-time NFL MVP has completed 6,377 passes for 74,571 yards and 541 touchdowns. All three numbers trail only Drew Brees (6,867 completions for 77,416 yards and 547 touchdowns) in the NFL record book. At this point in time, it looks like whoever lasts the longest — Brees or Brady — will end up with these records on their respective resume.
(Brees recently re-signed with the Saints on a two-year, $50 million deal)
Where Brady is head and shoulders above his competition, though, is in the career wins department.
Brady currently has 219 career regular season wins (the next closest active player is Brees, who has 163); He has 30 career postseason wins (the next closest active player is Ben Roethlisberger, who has 13); and he has six Super Bowl wins (the next closest active player is Roethlisberger, who was two).
The 14-time Pro Bowler has maintained that he’d like to play until he’s 45. If he does, he will likely retire as the record holder in every (literally) NFL passing record.
